The Don Whitley Scientific (DWS) Laboratory is proud to announce that we have successfully passed our Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) inspection by the UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
This marks a monumental milestone of 32 years as a member of the United Kingdom GLP compliance programme, which is a huge achievement for the DWS Laboratory. Decades of dedication by the team has allowed the laboratory to produce accurate, reliable, and trusted data for both UK and international pharmaceutical, agricultural, and microbiological companies. From gut microbiome studies to antimicrobial efficacy studies, our team are committed to completing work to the highest possible standard by following national and international standards as required, including BS / EN / ISO / ASTM test methods, BSAC, EUCAST and CLSI guidelines.
GLP compliance is monitored by regular inspections by governing bodies, such as the MHRA. They assess the laboratory’s processes, facility and documentation to ensure compliance with GLP principles. Data integrity - ensuring that all results are recorded and are accurate, legible, complete, traceable and securely archived - is of prime importance to our microbiology operation. It is vital that the laboratory has a comprehensive quality management system in place, ensuring documentation is accurate and detailed, the facility is fit for purpose and that staff are confident and experienced in their roles. The DWS Laboratory GLP Facility Manager, Kiera Walton commented: “We are delighted that our laboratory has again, successfully achieved GLP accreditation with the MHRA. The laboratory has held the certification since 1994 and the continuation of this is a credit to the hard work and dedication of the laboratory staff. A huge well done to all the team involved.”
