Weights & Measures Day is an annual celebration that commemorates the signing of the Metre Convention in 1875, by which there was a global agreement to use a standard system of weights and measures. This year, the theme is ‘Building a Lasting Legacy’. Without the standardisation of weights and measures, companies, such as Don Whitley Scientific (DWS), wouldn’t be able to provide customers with the degree of accuracy and consistency that is possible today.
DWS holds UKAS accreditation to calibrate a range of laboratory equipment to ISO 17025:2017 standard, giving our customers the confidence they need to do their work and, just like this year’s theme suggests, confidence in their equipment’s durability and reliability. What’s more, we’re always looking for ways to extend our calibration services in areas relevant to our customers. As of 2025, we offer UKAS calibration of analytical balances up to 5 decimal places, non-automatic weighing instrument calibration within the range of 0-9kg, and temperature-controlled equipment within the range of -90°C to +650°C (including ovens and furnaces).
Equipment we can calibrate:
- Autoclaves
- Media preparators or media sterilisers
- Fridges
- Ovens
- -90°C Freezers
- Water baths
- Incubators
- USB Temperature loggers
- OCEAView™ Data Loggers
- Temperature indicators
- Gravimetric diluters
- Balances
So, if you’re looking to have your equipment calibrated, why not choose DWS? Our calibration service is competitively priced and can often be scheduled to take place at the same time that the equipment is serviced, saving the cost of call outs and reduces machine downtime.
