Media Prep Validation Q&A

Why do I need a media prep validation?

The process of validation allows us to confirm by measurement that an entire load has achieved the required temperature for the required time. A validation, by its very nature, includes a calibration as part of the process.

What equipment will the engineer bring?

The engineer will bring along all the equipment needed, including a chart recorder, probes, and a laptop. The chart recorder is placed close to the media preparator and the probes are fed into the chamber.

How should I prepare for the visit?

To validate, a representative load is required – not necessarily media as water could be used.

Media Preparator Calibration in progressHow long will the validation process take?

The chart recorder takes about an hour to ‘warm up’ and in the meantime, the engineer will start to prepare your certificate. The whole process takes less than 4 hours.

When will I be able to see the data?

The data is shown, in real time, on the chart recorder screen.

When will I get the certificate?

Your certificate is prepared during the visit and will be sent to the office to be checked by an approved signatory before being issued. Typical turnaround time is less than 5 working days.
